Part measurement without operator influence
3D scanning is a technology which creates a digital 3D model of a physical object. The technology is based on a light pattern being projected on the object, and is therefore also called 3D light scanning or 3D white light scanning.
The fully automated systems differ from manual 3D scanning by having one or more programmable robots, thereby increasing the speed at which series of parts are measured.
With its specialized software, even complex measuring assignments are easily programmed.
GOM's series of automated 3D scanners is called ATOS ScanBox. The system is designed to use various ATOS 3D scanners, depending on part size and need.
Common for all ATOS ScanBox solutions are high repeatability and fast measurement for quality control of part series.
Exclusive to the ATOS ScanBox series, is the specialized software VMR (Virtual Measuring Room). This software simulates robot- and camera movements relative to the part, before the scanning is initiated.
The system accounts for shiny surfaces and adjusts to the optimum position, without damaging the part or the operator.
